I have been working on a new website, which will be called "Buy From Beaufort" (Beaufort County) and will be a central website, hopefully, for everyone in town that makes and/or sells things from home. Any local salesperson or craftsperson will be considered! If you think you may have a business that would fit in that category and might be interested, contact me! I will be listing people for free for the first 2 months if you are interested in giving us a chance!

Wondering if there are any Daisy or Brownie troops in Bluffton. I was a Brownie and would like my daughter to have the same experience.
Like most people, these days I've been trying to save money. So I guess I'm lucky that my favorite treat for myself--my ultimate morning or afternoon out--costs only $2.18. The uncomfortable truth is my favorite thing to do doesn't involve my kids, my husband or any of my friends. When it comes to sheer bliss, give me our dog as a companion any day.
Looking for playgroups for infants and toddlers for all moms in Bluffton/Hilton Head. Any suggestions?
If you have ever thought about hosting an au pair, AuPairCare is running a great special until Aug 15, 2009. They are waiving the application fee of $350 and you can look at available au pairs immediatly ! This is a great opportunity to check out the program with no obligation. Their website is www.aupaircare.com. Hope this helps !
Some loyal readers have been following my travails as my son complains about his camp counselors who "yell a lot." Recently, this same child and his younger brother begged me "If she has an accident, please don't yell at her!", as I drove probably above the speed limit through the streets of Bluffton hoping to make it to my house before our dog tired of waiting for us to get home and peed on the floor.
My seven-year-old son, who knows how to induce Mom-guilt with a precision that often astonishes me, hates his summer program. In all fairness to me and his dad as parents, he hasn't been there much due to family visits, trips, and other invitations. I chose his summer program because it was inexpensive and the schedule worked with mine: meaning, I work, and I need a program that's all day.
My children (ages 5 and 7), a friend of theirs, our neighbors and I recently visited the Waddell Mariculture Center at the end of Sawmill Creek Rd. in Bluffton, and it was a lot of fun. It's a fish and shrimp farming project sponsored by the state Department of Natural Resources, and they give free tours weekday mornings at 10 a.m. It was fun to ride around their facility in their golf cart with a knowledgeable, child-friendly guide named Talulah (spelling?). My kids liked looking in the big tanks, the Colleton River and in the laboratory/office.
