My four-year-decided to get sick right in the middle of me preparing the Island Packet's annual Today's Woman special section. Thankfully, the ever-reassuring Dr. Alicia Salyer at Palmetto Pediatrics told me he'll be fine in a few days. Now I can concentrate on work: I need nominations of "remarkable Lowcountry women" for this section. The nomination period closes Sept. 2, and then myself and other editors will choose a diverse group to be featured in print. The requirements are: nominees must live south of the Broad River, and should be active in the community in some way.

Are you worried about your teenager passing the written DMV test?
According to the LA Times, you should be. They say that about 50% of the first time takers fail the test. That means that nearly 3.5 million Americans fail the test every year. My husband makes a program that helps solve that problem for teenagers and seniors alike.
I figured if I wanted info about a town, the best course of action would be to talk to other mom's! My husband accepted a position at the Air Station, so we will be down soon. We are trying to sell our home in PA and find affordable housing there. Can anyone give some direction of places that are family friendly? I have been reading the online newspaper and see there are some crime waves going on in N. Beaufort County...where is that? Any advice on the area would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Beth
Does anyone know of restaurants (and what days) they have kids eat free specials in Bluffton?

At my son's 4-month check up, when I asked about teething symptoms and when can we expect that, my doctor replied, "Well, he's about to cut his bottom teeth soon." I couldn't believe it - my little boy is growing up way too fast. And it was as if him saying that made our little one realize that he should be showing signs of teething. So, our happy boy who slept through the night turned into cranky boy waking up every few hours.
