I'd like to enroll my kids in swimming lessons now, before summer starts and they begin spending all their free time at the pool. Ideally I'd like semi-private or private lessons. Does anyone know a good instructor who will come to our neighborhood pool for a reasonable rate? We live in Bluffton. Or, can anyone recommend one of the instructors for private lessons at the Bluffton pool? My kids are preschoolers and would be fine with a woman or man.

You maybe able to check with the red cross (I think) and see if they have a list of high school kids that are lifeguard qualified and those students may be interested in making a little extra cash for private lessons. I hope this helps you. I know Beaufort has the YMCA but I don't know if Bluffton or Hilton Head does. I know their used to be a place called the Island Rec Center they maybe able to help you also. Good luck
I think someone told me the instructors at the Bluffton pool will go to your pool for private lessons. I think it just costs more, but call them to find out. We need to do this too. Eli did waterbabies a few years ago, but I thought it was kind of lame. He needs real swim lessons now that he's 4.
Call me if you ever want to have a play date, or stop by and visit me on the other side of the office!

I agree. Water babies is just silly. I did that with my 3 year old a few years ago and I don't think she learned much.
We moved here from CA in February. I wanted to find swimming lessons for my 3 year old and maybe my 9 year old. I found an ad in the phone book for Island Swim. In fact they are the only swim school listed in there for the Bluffton area.
I signed my 3 year old up for some 4 week starter lessons in the summer program.
It seems like Island Swimming only does private type lessons.
They have an internet website www.IslandSwimSC.com
Best of luck to you.

Bluffton High School has a "public pool".
In Beaufort, I pay $30 a month for a monthly family pass. It is open 7am-8pm! Private lessons for my now swimming just 3 year old were very affordable and 8 group lessons for my 3 and 5 year old are cheap! Everytime I see my YMCA withdrawl I question why I still have my membership.
But, I have seriously looked at http://www.blufftonfins.com/
Check out Swim School for teh little ones. I hear it is great!
We live almost across the street from Bluffton High School.
They do not have a pool.
I'm excited to get my 3 y/o swimming this summer. She'll be swimming with Island Swim. I've run into a few parents that have their children swimming with them and love it!
Not trying to mislead anyone-
The pool in Bluffton is at MC Riley (was put in before the Buckwalter Complex existed). They are run by Beaufort County Parks and Leisure and listed that way in the phone book.
