I just read my first post and realized that it is pretty negative...sorry about that, but I wanted to spare you from wasting a beautiful day looking at dirty animals. A little more positive idea is the Jacksonville Zoo. This Zoo is wonderful! We have gone twice in the last year & loved it both times. More importantly Z loves it. There is a choo-choo train that circles the zoo, so you can get a lay of the land, not to mention--what pre-schooler wouldn't love a ride on a choo-choo train? The exhibits are great, and sizewise a 3 year old can walk it. They have a petting zoo, with clean goats that the kids can brush, an awesome playground, and it is an easy drive from Hilton Head. Each time we have done it we have gone on priceline and gotten a hotel up the road from the zoo. It is a nice overnight trip, but could easily be done in a day. Here is their website www.jaxzoo.org.
