I've heard and read a lot about babies' bewitching hour - the time in the late afternoon or early evening where they are fussy. Well, my son certainly has that. In between his afternoon and dinner time feeding (somewhere around 6 p.m.), he just gets fussy and there's pretty much no way of calming him down. He might get distracted briefly with toys and a pacifier - but only briefly. I think part of it is that he's tired because he only takes a 30-45 minute nap, but I'm not quite sure.
We're trying to get our 8-week-old to sleep through the night. I know he's ready (and so are mom and dad) because when he does wake up it's at 4 a.m. on the dot every time. So we think it's more his internal clock than hunger that triggers him. I know there are several tips out there - just wondering what has worked for you guys.
He already sleeps through his late-night feeding (10:30 p.m.) sometimes so he technically sleeps 7 hours on occasion, which is nice. But I think he's ready to eliminate that middle-of-the-night feeding too.
Let me know what's worked best for you. Thanks!
Our 7-week-old doesn't seem to like to take naps in the afternoon/evening. We've really been working at lying him down at nap time and letting him cry and calm himself (until he gets to whaling for a couple minutes and then we check on him). But it's been very hard to get him to settle down. We're trying not to use the pacifier to do that - but sometimes that's all that works. And even then if he does go to sleep - it's only for 15-30 minutes and then he wakes up again.
Hey moms.... I just had my newborn's and 2 yr old's pictures taken by a local photographer and I just wanted to share her with you because her pictures are beautiful!!!
You have got to check out www.apriltoddphotography.com She is absolutely wonderful and I couldnt be happier with the pictures. She lives here in Bluffton and knows a lot of great places to do photo shoots. Her website shows she does maternity pics, family pics, children of all ages, and more!
Check out the MOMS Club of Bluffton/Hilton Head! This club is perfect for full time or part time stay at home moms. After you join the club, you receive a monthly calendar that is full of activities for you and your lil ones. We have playgroups, parties, and group events at playground, pools, and member houses. We also have a very popular mom's night out once a month so you can eat a grown up meal with adults and leave the kids at home!
I'm looking for ideas on cool birth announcements. Any ideas of cool stores, web sites or ideas for our little boy's birth announcements? My husband and I both want something unique and I need something that's relatively easy.
Thanks in advance!
Laura
We will be moving to HHI/Bluffton area late this year. Can you all recommend the family friendly neighborhoods? We've looked at a few, but really want to know which ones have a lot of full-time families living there.
Thanks!
My kid is only 4 weeks old and his mom and I think he may have acid reflux. He sometimes gets fussy at feeding time and spits up almost after every meal and during the middle of the night in his bed. We've heard a little bit about acid reflux in babies, but need some more info.
How do you cure (or subdue) it?
Thanks for feedback!
I have finally conquered the bottle blues! I had to bite the bullet and just not give in. She was not happy, but she got over it. It's been 3 full days, and we managed to survive. So for any others out there going through the same trials, just stand your ground! It will be tough but remember it's not a need, it's a WANT. Find a really good cup early on and introduce it to your child and it may not be so hard. They have to like a cup to make that transition.
Now that I've been a mom for all of 2 weeks - I've learned a few things. I've learned how to quiet my fussy baby and the certain way he likes to be fed or held. I've also learned about a few items that I could not live without and I want to share them with other moms.
1. cloth diapers - now it's not what you think. I certainly don't use them to cover my baby's bottom. But they make the best burp cloths. Trust me.
