I have a 14mo. old and a 2 week old and I am racking my brain trying to come up with things to do this summer with my kids. (my 14mo. old obviously)
So I decided to make a little list of things moms in Beaufort can do with there little ones over the hot summer ahead!

CHEC 2008 is the Coastal Home Educator's Conference a parenting, education and homeschool event that will feature Christian family counselor, Lou Priolo teaching on two of his books, The Heart of Anger - Practical Help for the Prevention and Cure of Anger in Children (AND Teens!) and Teach Them Diligently - How to Use the Scriptures in Child Training. There will be workshops on how to teach the very young child, how to remediate academic weakness, using manipulative-based math-u-see, and lots more.
The CHEC BOOK BLAST is the area's largest used curriculum and book sale. You'll find great summer reading material for your kids and yourself, as well as curriculum for summer remediation in different subjects or to use as add-ons during the school year. The event is open to the public, but you must register either online (www.GoCHEC.org) or at the door. $10 per adult admits you to the BOOK BLAST and the 2 day conference. Children are free and can attend all events, as long as they do not disturb the other participants.
Usually I hate magazine articles about fun crafts to do with your kids, because they sound complicated, time consuming and expensive. But I read one about doing a family diary that sounded fun and easy, and it has become a big focus in our household, with surprising consequences. Our family diary is a large sketch book that I bought at Michael's. A few times a week I write in it — entries about my kids activities, family events, outings etc. My kids, 4 and 6, draw in it and write messages too. When art projects come home from school, I use a glue stick to paste them in the family diary.
I'm looking to have a dinner for 25-30 brought into a Hilton Head home in June. Anyone have any ideas?
If you've never been, it's really a small-town street fest.
Very laid back!
Weather will be great.
